Are Suunto dive computers too conservative?

Are Suunto dive computers too conservative?

Suuntos are known to be on the conservative side. I’ve been using a D4 for years (I believe it uses the same algorithm as the Zoop) and have found the same thing that you experienced. Sometimes the dive boats would make a little joke about it, during our surface intervals comparing NDLs for our next dives.

What wrist do you wear a dive computer on?

You do need to closely monitor your depth during ascents/descents, safety stops / deco stops, and you often need to operate the inflator/dump to contro your depth at the same time…. that is why “computer on the right wrist” is most common. Best wishes.

How does a wrist dive computer work?

WRIST MOUNTED DIVE COMPUTER Wrist mounted dive computers are smaller than consoles. They allow you to hold your camera or light while wearing the computer on the inside of your wrist and seeing your information.

What dive computers use Buhlmann?

The Descent Mk1 (currently the only dive computer by Garmin) utilizes the Bühlmann ZHL-16C algorithm and has highly configurable conservatism settings. You can choose from three pre-set conservatism settings, or enter custom Gradient Factors. It is also possible to change the duration of the safety stops.

What algorithm does scubapro use?

ZH-L16 ADT MB PMG
SCUBAPRO’S ZH-L16 ADT MB PMG is the only dive computer algorithm able to include respiration/breathing rate as an indicator of workload during a dive and adjust the decompression plan to avoid risk factors.

Whats the difference between a dive watch and a dive computer?

A dive computer is the smartwatch of the diving world. It is still designed to do a similar thing – to keep track of time and avoid decompression sickness – but where the dive watch is intended to be used every day, with any outfit, this is a purpose-built device. Dive watches vary in size and sophistication.

Do dive computers tell time?

A dive computer provides the real-time dive information you need to dive well. A dive computer takes depth and time information and applies it to a decompression model to track the dissolved nitrogen in your body during a dive.

What is Buhlmann credibility?

Bühlmann credibility model generally used to predict premium tariff for each policyholder at ( + 1)-th period based on n periods historical claims or also called one period model.

Do dive computers have a compass?

The Dive Console Computer The new fully digitized console dive computer incorporates all dive data, plus tank pressure, plus a digital compass, in a single, easy-to-use computing package.

What algorithm does Shearwater Perdix use?

Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm
Introduced in 2016, the Perdix ai from Shearwater Research of Canada is a full decompression dive computer incorporating the Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm, with user configurable Gradient Factors (GF).

How long do dive computers last?

Keep in mind: If a diver makes a single dive on a computer, the computer keeps computing tables for as long as 24 hours afterward. So if someone dives an hour a day with his computer, the computer is still runs up to 300 days.

Is a dive computer worth it?

Air integrated dive computers, such as the Suunto Cobra, monitor your air pressure and can display your airtime remaining for your dive based upon your air consumption and depth. In our opinion, it is worth the extra investment!

Do divers still use dive watches?

Description. In the 1970s and 1980s, divers wore dive watches because it was the standard way to track bottom time while scuba diving. Today, with dive computers being the norm, divers wear watches as symbols that identify them as scuba divers.

Is it OK to share a computer with your dive buddy?

Many people, especially divers that does not dive regularly, does not own one. If you are thinking of sharing a dive computer with your dive buddy, don’t. Sharing a dive computer is not a sensible practice. It is almost impossible for us to be constantly at the same depth/level with our dive buddy.

Can you scuba dive without a dive computer?

Without a dive computer (all have ascent rate monitors/displays), it can be more tricky to monitor the speed of your ascent. During training, the instructor will have demonstrated an appropriate rate as part of scuba diving skills development, but I do understand that it can be hard to replicate this initially.
